Childbirth

The Maternity Ward treats emergency patients who have gynecological problems or problems related to their pregnancy. The ward receives patients through a doctor or nurse’s referral. Only patients in need of immediate treatment are admitted as emergency patients. Possible reasons for emergency admittance include premature contractions, breaking of the waters or a decrease in fetal movement, for example. In a situation that requires emergency care or when coming in to give birth, the patient should call the ward in advance at 06 415 4726 (office), regardless of the time.

The ward includes six delivery rooms and a separate delivery bath, equipped with a sauna. There are two family rooms. There is also a separate resting room for support persons, equipped with cooking facilities and two beds. In addition to midwives, specialists in different medical fields are also available around the clock.

The Maternity Ward is located in the Central Hospital’s Building P, Hanneksenrinne 7. There are parking spaces reserved for patients coming to the Maternity Ward in front of Building P. The doors are closed at night; please ring the doorbell. In our hospital, smoking is prohibited indoors and in the vicinity of entrance doors.
